Professionally guided rafting for families, schools & teambuilds

No matter what your age or experience, you’ll enjoy rafting with the top river pros in South Africa. We established rafting in this country in the 1980s and are still the industry leaders – training many of the guides, developing much of the equipment, and above all providing the best service and most fun on the river. We also know our birds, local geology and history.

Based at Otters’ Haunt on the Vaal, we run half-day, fullday and longer overnight camping trips. We also run 5-day expeditions on the Orange River and Doring River (Cape Cederberg) as well as weekends on the mighty Tugela in KwaZulu-Natal.

Pick your boat: we are unique in offering you a range of craft, and we advise you on the best for your family, oldies, the disabled or the fit and rarin’ to go! We even take tubes on trips to challenge wildwater on your own!

Accommodation: Come for a few days at Otters’ Haunt to enjoy the rafting and also go canoeing among the wilderness islands. On other rivers we have overnight accommodation as well as luxury tented camps and catering to dream of. Ask for details.

Visit our main website at or drop us an inquiry and we’ll arrange your rafting trip to suit you. We limit numbers so as to enjoy the river experience and relate socially. We are members of the African Paddling Association and we train our guides through Adventure Standards Africa. Our boats are all licensed and our guides listed by the SA Marine Safety Authority (SAMSA).
